To form the
past simple with regular verbs, it is quite simple! As you have seen,
all you have to do is take the infinitive of the verb and add –
ed. For example, walk – walked. If the infinitive ends in ‘e’,
for example, believe, you only have to add ‘d’ – believe
– believed.

past simple when we want to talk about something that we have done in
the past and which has finished. For example, ‘yesterday I watched
a film’ (I finished watching the film yesterday). The action is
complete.
We usually use time expressions when we use the past simple, for example,
yesterday, last week, etc..
